Lexi Castillo

I use paint, metal, wood, canvas, plaster and string. Growing up with an autistic brother who is non-verbal, we used a unique body language, pictures and eye contact to express emotions and communicate. Relying solely on visual language with my brother, it compelled me to see my feelings as colors, shapes and objects.

I believe shared experiences and words are tactile and they attach themselves to the furniture we spend time with-giving inanimate objects lives of their own which has inspired my recent series of welded non-functional chairs.
